Pet's Response Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Following up on our conversation - Marty's is extremely reactive to dogs when he’s out in public (barking, lunging, disengaging with us.) He was NOT reactive when we met him prior to adopting him in July 2023. Although given plenty of opportunities to have positive interactions through training with well socialized and neutral dogs, he seems to be holding on to the 2 negative interactions he’s had, which was a small dog barking in his face and our in-laws 15lbs. dog chasing him. We think these negative interactions is what has led to Marty’s reactivity. He is friendly and great in social situations if he gets to physically meet the dog. He gets plenty of exercise, play time, rest time, etc., and lives happily and lovingly with his 2 dog sisters. He is a pleasure to have inside the home - he’s a cuddler, goofy, silly, incredibly affectionate and very friendly. We’ve all confirmed that Marty does not have a mean bone in his body. So even though he sounds very aggressive (mainly due to his size) he really is just confused and unsure of what the dogs represent out in public. He simply doesn’t know how to handle his big emotions. We have high hopes that the cbd will take that edge off.
